It seams these days that everyone with a website has a blog. Why should I be any different? I never cared a bit about blogs. I thought they were a great waste of time. Then I started reading my friend and mentor Dr Mark Cheng's blog at KETTLEBELLSLOSANGELES.com. I realized that I could get important info and insight about training and life. Maybe something we had not covered in class. An un-asked question would be answered by serendipity. A refferal to a topic I had never considered would lead me to a link to a website or resource that would become a favorite. So why should I be any different?
I am slowly trying to grow a "FLOCK" as Mark calls it. A client base, a group of enthusiastic folks who want to do something about their life and health. I won't lie. I want to make money at this. But I really enjoy sharing knowledge and helping people get strong and healthy. I am learning that to be successful in this field I have to "MARKET" myself. I have never been good at that. I am really talented at some things. I have a strong work ethic and I do quality work in my chosen endeavors. I have always considered myself a "Quiet Professional" When I do good, people tell me. I do what I do the only way I know how, and never seek recognition. I have worked with alot of people who have to "put themselves on blast". They are always running to a supervisor to tell them what a great job they think they have done by themselves, shouting, "Hey Sarge! Hey Lieutenant! Look at ME! Look at ME!" I have always had a great disdain for that. Now I am trying to build a business in which people have to look at me and want train with me. I can not just do what I do and hope clients find out about me. Now I have to put myself "ON BLAST!"
One way you the reader can help is to let people know about me. If you know anyone who can benefit from my service, please reffer them. Send them to the website, give them a bussiness card etc...
As I start down this new path I will be sharing stories about my journy. I will link you to interesting sites or pieces I think are in line with what I want to teach. I look forward to your input and hope you will all feal free to post comments here on the blog. Thanks...Mike Prosser
