Hey check me out! Today I am 40!
It's funny how different people relate to age. I have a client who is 43. Whenever I rib him for missing a workout or I hear him complain about stiffness or pain, he never fails to mention that he is 43. Keep in mind I have introduced him to KETTLEBELLS! Kettlebells in my humble opinion are the fountain of youth! Back to the point. So many people latch onto self-imposed or false limitations. They will wave the flag of age whenever something challenges them. I am not the type that thinks positive thinking and warm fuzzy thoughts will get you through any hardship. LIFE IS HARD ! But I do believe that a positive attitude is a key to self improvement and success.
My dad is 72 this year. I have never once heard him complain about his age. He has always had a positive attitude. That has rubbed off on me. He was always a dreamer. He always had some new trick up his sleave or some new goal. So in the early nineties he took his life savings and moved to the jungle of Costa Rica. He built a house there. Sure, he hired some locals to help...but he did it. Funny thing is...today at 72 he still gets up every morning and works on that house. I believe his vision of what that house can be, and his creativity are what keeps him going. I don't think he ever slowed down and looked at the man-made black and white lines and numbers on the calendar that mark the years as they pass. He blew rights past 40, 50, 60, and 70!
Don't let the numbers on a calendar or the candles on a cake tell you how to feal. Don't miss an oportunity because you think you are too old. If you are fealing a little worn, weary, achy, and tired...Go outside and swing a kettlebell. Get busy Living or Get Busy Dying!
